Friends of the Little Miami State Park

Fourth Annual Meeting

May 15. 2011 in Loveland Chambers

Annualmeeting2011The Friends of the Little MIami State Park held their annual members meeting last Sunday in the Loveland City Council chambers. President Steve Murphy welcomed some 40 members from a wide geographic area representing the 50 mile trail. Members of the board were joined by staff of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Park Manager Alan Ferguson, Tom Moffitt of the Ohio to Erie Trail, Loveland City Councilman Brent Zuch as well as many trail users and volunteers. While recognizing our successes in building a strong Adopt-a-Trail system and re-surfacing 14 bridges, Murphy urged attendees to consider taking  greater responsibility to move the organization forward. We are in need of a new secretary and a treasurer following career moves by Jess Evans and Rob Brooks, we need to develop relationships with local governments and we need to develop a strategic plan that encompasses assertive grant application. Parks Mangager Ferguson took lots of questions from members and reported a successful first mowing of the trail is complete. John Ewalt stepped forward to join the board as treasurer. The board also welcomed Hans Landefeld, formerly with the MIami Valley Conservancy District (and designer of the universal trail signage system used regionally) gave a token of appreciation to outgoing treasurer Brooks, and enjoyed cookies and comraderie with members.
